The trash can is not, and should definitely not be, the destination of love, one of the noblest feelings that exist. However, there are those who believe otherwise and actually throw it in the trash, as is "poeticized" in the book "Verses of Sin – Poems, Thoughts, Sins".
"Verses of Sin" is the second book by Mozambican writer Dyne Silver, recently launched at the Ruby space in Nampula.
The work consists of 90 pages and brings together provocative poems and thoughts that essentially dialogue with religion and humanity. During the reading, the poetry lover will realize that this is not exactly a book that offers "unforgivable sins".
On the contrary, explains Dyne Silver, the book is composed of "spicy poems of reciprocated love and poems of love thrown in the trash; a little self-help, social intervention and mysticism".
“It’s not one of those volumes you leave on the dinner table to impress guests; it’s an artifact that’s part book, part Pandora’s Box; part light and part mirror that reflects back to you,” he explains.
Pedro Pereira Lopes, editor of Gala-Gala, which publishes the “Out of The Box” collection, points out that the work invites the reader to delve into carnal passions, existential crises, and paradoxes of faith, as well as challenging conventions by presenting “sin” not as a fall, but as an intrinsic and fascinating dimension of human experience.
Dyne Silver is the pseudonym of Dino da Silva, born in 1983 in Quelimane, Zambézia. He graduated in Civil Engineering from Eduardo Mondlane University and has taught at the Polytechnic and Lúrio Universities, as well as at the Military Academy. He published “Crónicas & Poemas ao Vinho” (2025).
