A "lever" for flood victims

More than 145 million meticais have recently been made available by the Mozambique LNG Project to support the economic and social recovery of communities affected by the recent floods in the provinces of Gaza, Maputo, and Inhambane.

It is estimated that around 180,000 people will benefit from this support, with resources being applied to priority sectors such as agriculture, food security, livelihoods, water, sanitation, hygiene, and education.

The aim is to restore the productive capacity of those affected, especially in the most vulnerable rural areas. Of the total amount, 63.25 million meticais will benefit approximately 125,000 people in the districts of Manjacaze and Chibuto, in Gaza, focusing on agriculture and education.

Similarly, 18.97 million meticais will support approximately 15,000 beneficiaries in Maputo, Gaza, and Inhambane, primarily with agricultural inputs and strengthening livelihoods.

Similarly, 63.25 million meticais will be allocated to more than 40,000 people in the districts of Guijá and Mabalane, focusing on the rehabilitation of water sources, food security, and community protection.

The Mozambique LNG Project is operated by TotalEnergies. The funding was formalized in Maputo through the signing of memoranda of understanding with three civil society organizations: MAHLAHLE – Association for the Promotion and Development of Women, Caritas Mozambique Association, and World Vision International - Mozambique.
