For the third consecutive time, Mozambican saxophonist Ivan Mazuze has been appointed to the Norwegian Directorate of Culture's Committee for the support line aimed at concert and festival organizers in Norway.
The appointment of the composer and cultural manager reinforces the confidence placed in the artist's work and recognizes his commitment to a more diverse, representative, and sustainable Norwegian music ecosystem.
According to the artist's team, Mazuze will contribute with artistic and cultural assessments based on his knowledge of the sector and extensive experience acquired both in Norway and internationally.
He will also be able to review applications from organizers and festivals across the country, with the aim of strengthening professional productions, promoting audience development, and raising artistic quality.
“I am deeply grateful for the trust placed in me and motivated to continue contributing to the work of supporting organizers and festivals that create essential spaces for artists and audiences to meet throughout Norway”, he states.
Over the past few years, Mazuze has been a central figure in the Norwegian cultural landscape as a musician and cultural consultant. His work stands out for its intercultural competence, artistic quality, and inclusive audience engagement practices.
The committee is made up of experts in their respective fields who provide input to the national cultural council on professional matters and improvements in their respective areas.
