The Guimarães Rosa Institute (IGR) in Maputo is hosting the launch of the project “Seeds of Freedom – Album of Lived Memories”, an art-education initiative aimed at Mozambican children.

The project is promoted by the ÁFRICA UNIDA collective, in partnership with the Bahia State Culture Secretariat (Secult-BA) and Flotar.
The initiative runs from Tuesday to Sunday and includes activities in Maputo, Matola, and the Katembe municipal district. The objective is to involve children from community schools in creating a “memory album,” valuing local stories, identities, and experiences through artistic and educational workshops.
In addition to creative activities, the project promotes community methodologies that encourage the sharing of knowledge, orality, and the recovery of ancestral narratives. The initiative also strengthens cultural ties between Mozambique and Brazil, using art as a tool for education and identity building.
