At a time when chronic stress and existential emptiness are cited by experts as catalysts for mental illnesses, the search for meaning emerges not only as a philosophical concept, but also as a critical factor in protecting mental health.

Chronic stress, for example, causes severe physical and psychological wear and tear, with major consequences including cardiovascular diseases, mental disorders, digestive problems, and decreased immunity, among others. Existential emptiness, on the other hand, can trigger mental and behavioral health problems such as depression, anxiety, chronic apathy, and a loss of meaning in life.
These are challenges that need to be faced and overcome. It is in this context of promoting psychological well-being that writer and singer Maria Luísa Ganhana presented her book, "Embrace Your Purpose – Living a Meaningful Life," this week at the Galeria do Porto in Maputo.
Through practical self-knowledge tools, the book proposes a direct intervention in managing existential crises, offering the reader strategies to align emotional health with their fundamental essence. Published by Kulera, the work presents itself as a decisive step towards reducing anxiety and building a more balanced, fulfilling, and lasting life.
Maria Ganhana is a writer, singer, and composer of contemporary Christian music. A graduate in Forestry Engineering, she worked in the agricultural sector for six years, but it was in literature that she found her true mission: to awaken people to reflect on their life's purpose.
Her writing proposes a reinterpretation of the meaning of existence, inviting the reader to face crisis as an opportunity for a new beginning and to courageously seek full realization.
The author believes that living with purpose is a vital human need and that embracing this purpose is the decisive phase for its fulfillment, regardless of socioeconomic and cultural contexts.
