The Hour of the Star

"The Hour of the Star" is a film based on Clarice Lispector's classic of the same name. Released in 1985 and directed by Suzana Amaral, it tells the story of Macabéa, a young woman from Alagoas who migrates to Rio de Janeiro.

The feature film is considered one of the 100 best in Brazilian cinema by Abraccine. It also won a Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival.

Rated for ages 12 and up, the film can be seen this Wednesday at the Guimarães Rosa Institute in Maputo.
