The reciter Eliane Butelane is the big winner of the 6th edition of the Mozambican Spoken Word Poetry Championship – Moz Slam 2025, after beating artists such as Natacha Socre and Daniel Savanguane, who complete the podium.
This is yet another achievement for the International Relations student, who has already stood out in competitions such as the Muthiana Slam (2024), the AMOJOF Freedom and Tolerance (2024) and the Collaborative History of the Franco-Mozambican Cultural Center (2024). In addition, she won the Flik (2021) and Maputo City Council literary competitions, in the prose category (2021).
As an award, Eliane Butelane will have the opportunity to represent Mozambique in prestigious international competitions, such as the African Spoken Word Poetry Championship and the Slam Poetry World Cup in Mexico. She will also be able to compete in the Slam Poetry World Cup in Paris.
The 2025 edition of Moz Slam, an event organized by A Palavra e Palavra, also paid tribute to rapper Azagaia, whose socially active music continues to be an inspiration for Mozambican youth.
