The government recently launched interoperability between the Hospital Data Management Module (MGDH-Births) and the Electronic Civil Registry and Vital Statistics System (e-SiRCEV). This initiative aims to provide real-time electronic data on births in public hospitals.
Implementation began between April and May in the province of Inhambane, covering the districts of Zavala, Maxixe, Inhambane, and Inharrime. This will allow newborns to be registered in health units before being discharged from the hospital, ensuring they are legally recognized and have access to basic services.
The initial project aims to create a foundation to expand the initiative to other regions of the country, allowing more citizens to benefit from technological advancements in the registration sector.
According to Elisa Samuel, representative of the Minister of Justice, Constitutional and Religious Affairs, interoperability improves the efficiency and quality of public services in Mozambique, providing reliable data for better public policies and direct access to civil registration.
Ivan Tcheco, from Vital Strategies, the project financier, highlighted that the project will reduce duplication of efforts and facilitate the registration of vital events, ensuring data quality and expanding birth registration coverage.
The project was launched by the Ministries of Justice, Constitutional and Religious Affairs, and Health, with technical support from Jembi Health Systems and Saudigitus, as well as Vital Strategies.
