More than 150,000 residents of the Maxaquene and Polana Cani\u00e7o neighborhoods in Maputo city will see their living conditions significantly improved thanks to the construction of a new rainwater drainage system.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n\r\n

The project aims to channel and drain rainwater, reducing the flooding that severely affects these areas. With the implementation of the system, it is expected to minimize the losses faced by residents and ensure greater safety and hygiene.<\/p>\r\n

For the project, Italy disbursed approximately \u20ac63 million, allocated to the construction of 14 kilometers of drainage infrastructure designed to withstand extreme weather events.<\/p>\r\n

Mrs. Josefina, a resident of the Polana Cani\u00e7o neighborhood, expressed hope regarding the benefits of the project, highlighting that her house is currently flooded.<\/p>\r\n

\u201cWith this system, I believe our situation will improve greatly, because every time it rains my house fills with water, and that has been very difficult for my family,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

Ana Maria, in turn, also reacted with satisfaction to the initiative, emphasizing the positive impact the infrastructure could bring to her family.<\/p>\r\n

\r\n

\u201cWe have already suffered a lot of damage because of the floods, but I hope that we will finally have more security and better living conditions,\u201d he said.<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

Meanwhile, the Italian Ambassador to Mozambique, Gabriel Annis, highlighted the urgency of implementing the system, considering it essential to improve living conditions and reduce the vulnerability of the populations covered by the project.<\/p>\r\n

The construction is estimated to last three years and is projected to have a lifespan of approximately 50 years, representing a lasting solution to a problem that has long affected the residents of these areas.<\/p>\r\n
