The Mozambican scientist Alexandre de F\u00e1tima Cobre was recently recognized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as one of the 10 best young scientists in the world in 2025.<\/p>\r\n

The recognition, which underlines the impact of his contributions to Artificial Intelligence applied to health, comes within the framework of UNESCO-AI, an international award that recognizes the work of scientists under 40 years of age.<\/p>\r\n

Alexandre Cobre stood out for his contributions during his doctoral studies in Brazil, where he dedicated himself to the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in health, with a special focus on drug discovery and repositioning.<\/p>\r\n

\r\n

\u201cThis recognition is even more significant because I competed with scientists from all over the world with more than a decade of experience, while I was still finishing my PhD,\u201d he wrote on his Facebook profile.<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

Alexandre Cobre's career is marked by achievements. From 2020 to 2021, he published articles related to Covid-19, using Artificial Intelligence tools applied to accessible routine examinations. His work was recognized by the World Health Organization (WHO) as an official reference in the fight against the pandemic.<\/p>\r\n

In February 2024, before defending his doctoral thesis, he was awarded the UK Global Talent Visa, a recognition granted by the United Kingdom to professionals with high potential in their fields.<\/p>\r\n

In 2025, his innovation in the use of Artificial Intelligence for drug discovery and diagnosis earned him an honorable mention in the CAPES Prize, considered the most prestigious award in Brazilian science.<\/p>\r\n
