Photo: CSRES<\/p>\r\n<p>According to academic Sara Laisse, the book proposes an exercise in collective introspection, inviting readers to revisit significant episodes in national history between 1974 and 1986, the year of the Mbuzini tragedy in neighboring South Africa, which culminated in the death of the late President Samora Machel.<\/p>\r\n<p>The book explores memories, experiences, and episodes lived by the author in a narrative that seeks to purge misconceptions and raise new questions about the process of building the Mozambican state.<\/p>\r\n<p>According to Sara Laisse, Tom\u00e1s Salom\u00e3o reveals the tensions, achievements, and dilemmas of a country in constant transformation. He reminds us that development is not measured solely by infrastructure or symbols of material progress; after all, \"it's not enough to build Cadillacs,\" because the true advancement of a nation must be evaluated by indicators of human development and the well-being of its citizens.<\/p>\r\n<p>Sara Laisse also highlights small reflective \"frames,\" fragments that condense thoughts, observations, and revelations that the author considers essential for understanding the complexity of Mozambican society.<\/p>\r\n<p>These passages cross economics, history, and even more philosophical and spiritual dimensions, demonstrating that the country cannot be understood solely through numbers or political events.
