A permanent mural by Mozambican artist Sebasti\u00e3o Coana is on display at the Katara Cultural Village Foundation Gallery in Qatar.<\/p>\r\n

With the work, which represents an artistic bridge between the peoples of Mozambique and Qatar, Sebasti\u00e3o Coana has become one of the international artists selected to have his work displayed at this prestigious space.<\/p>\r\n

The mural can be seen as a result of the good diplomatic relations between the two countries, which is why the Embassy of the Republic of Mozambique, in partnership with the Katara Cultural Village Foundation, opened this Sunday the solo exhibition by Mozambican artist Sebasti\u00e3o Coana, entitled \u201cEcos da Terra\u201d, which will be on display until July 12 at the Katara Gallery.<\/p>\r\n

Comprising 18 new works, the exhibition delves into the artist\u2019s identity roots, evoking the landscapes, sounds and silences of Mozambique. The works, with a strong visual and symbolic language, transform memory and territory into pictorial poetry.<\/p>\r\n

The exhibition is part of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of Mozambique\u2019s independence and the 31st anniversary of diplomatic relations with the State of Qatar, and is a moment to affirm the cultural dialogue between the two countries.<\/p>\r\n

According to Isac Mamudo Massamby, Ambassador of Mozambique to Qatar, \u201cthis exhibition is a project that results from the partnership with Katara Cultural Village to contribute to cultural exchanges between Qatar and Mozambique, strengthening the existing relationship\u201d.<\/p>\r\n<\/blockquote>\r\n

Sebasti\u00e3o Coana (b. 1987) is a contemporary Mozambican artist whose multidisciplinary practice includes oil painting, urban art, sculpture and large-scale public installations. Born in the rural district of Manhi\u00e7a, Mozambique, his childhood was marked by the effects of the post-civil war, awakening in him a deep commitment to social development and community empowerment.<\/p>\r\n

His artistic career began in 1995 and in 2000 he joined the youth artistic initiation programme at the National Museum of Arts, in Maputo. He later continued his education at the China Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) in Beijing, where he graduated with a degree in Architecture in 2012.<\/p>\r\n

His works are characterized by intense textures, vibrant colors and a deep connection to everyday life. His recurring themes include love, resilience, memory and social justice.<\/p>\r\n
