The Faculty of Language, Communication and Arts Sciences (FCLCA) of the Pedagogical University of Maputo (UP-Maputo) has introduced new postgraduate programmes in Communication Sciences for the 2025 academic year.
The highlights are the master's degree in Communication and Information Sciences and the doctorate in Communication Sciences. With this offer, the FCLCA expands its contribution to specialized academic training and scientific research in the country, strengthening its institutional mission that began in 2010.
According to the director of the FCLCA, Paulino Fumo, the programmes are part of an ongoing effort to deepen knowledge, scientific production and develop university extension.
“This process demonstrates our faculty's commitment not only to teaching and developing knowledge in these areas, but also to scientific production, research and university extension”, he commented.
Calisto Comé, head of the Communications Department at FCLCA, highlighted that the postgraduate programmes are organised into structured research lines, in order to promote relevant scientific production with local and international impact.
One of the highlights of the new offering is the Master’s degree in Journalism in Digital Media, aimed at the challenges of new technologies and transformations in the media ecosystem, including changes in the ways in which information is produced, distributed and consumed.
The director of the Doctoral Programme in Communication, Leonilde Sanveca, emphasised the importance of academic rigour and the dedication of students to scientific research.
“Students are expected to have a strong commitment to scientific research, as this is the only way we can build a solid academic body and contribute to the development of communication in Mozambique”, she said.
