If the beautiful beaches of Inhambane, its typical reed buildings or its unique cuisine are not enough to convince you of this province in the south of Mozambique, let us add one more reason: the Timbila M’Saho Festival.
M'saho is an annual event that aims to promote national musical and instrumental cultural diversity, especially through the timbila, declared by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), intangible heritage of humanity.
It takes place this Saturday and promises to be one of the most popular events of the year, at least in Inhambane. If you don't know the location of the event, know that there is always a first time for everything. In fact, with the advancement of technology, just ask Google Maps to show you the town of Quissico, in the district of Zavala.
This year M’Saho has the particularity of taking place on the banks of the aircraft landing strip in order to accommodate more people. Just to give you an idea, more than 15 thousand spectators are expected. Of course, most of them are tourists.
Some of these spectators began to arrive in Zavala yesterday for this event, which has the particularity of coinciding with the celebration of yet another anniversary of Qussico's elevation to the category of town.
Timbila groups such as Mkwaio, Timbila ta Venâncio, Timbila ta Muane, Timbila ta Mazivela, Timbila Banguza, Timbila Nagutou and Timbila Mauaie perform.
