The Government of Japan, through the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), has opened applications for research scholarships at Japanese universities for the period of 2024-2026.

The scholarships offer a unique opportunity for advanced research at Japanese universities, with the possibility of pursuing a master’s or doctoral degree, subject to passing the admission exams. For those not proficient in Japanese, the program includes a six-month intensive language course.

Candidates can apply for projects in all fields of study available at these higher education institutions, except for traditional expressions such as Japanese dance, music, and performing arts.

It is crucial that the research area is related to the candidate's academic background. It is worth noting that doctors and dentists will not be able to practice their profession without the appropriate license from the Ministry of Health of Japan.

To apply for these scholarships, candidates must meet requirements such as holding a bachelor's or master's degree, being born on or after April 2, 1990, and being proficient in English or Japanese. Benefits include a monthly stipend of 143,000 yen, over 58,000 meticals (subject to variations), a round-trip ticket, and exemption from school fees.

With this support, MEXT aims to provide an enriching and culturally immersive educational experience, contributing to the academic and professional development of the scholars.
