The Humphrey Program, an initiative of the U.S. government, is offering one-year scholarships in the United States for mid-career Mozambican professionals.
The program aims to provide professional training and exchange experiences with American specialists, although it does not include the granting of an academic degree, instead offering a certificate from the U.S. Government.
Professionals from various fields such as public administration, agricultural development, finance and banking, urban and regional planning, education, journalism, environment, economic development, commerce, human resources, public health, and communication can apply.
Applicants must be Mozambican, have an excellent command of English (minimum TOEFL score of 525 or 71 on the IBT), and a strong academic and professional background. Benefits include coverage of airfare, travel allowances, accommodation, tuition, and books.
The Humphrey Program was initiated in 1978 to honor the memory and accomplishments of the late Senator and Vice President Hubert H. Humphrey. Fellows are selected based on their potential for leadership and commitment to public service.
As it is not a degree program, participants spend a considerable portion of their time engaged in professional development activities such as consultations and collaborations with American professors and experts, field trips, workshops, research projects, and the development of practical and useful strategies that can be applied in their home countries.
