Ruby - An option for accommodation and art in Nampula

If you want to visit the city of Nampula, we have a special place that you can't miss. A perfect place for those looking for leisure and cultural immersion, to promote interactions and get in touch with culture, the soul and feelings.

Located in the heart of the city, on Rua Filipe Samuel Magaia (formerly Rua das Flores), Ruby is a guesthouse that was set up to welcome people with a cultural interest, in other words, an opportunity for visitors to "breathe in" culture. A curious fact is that the space doesn't have a television, but there are books scattered throughout the floors and rooms.

In a space decorated with wood, designed to enhance Mozambican culture and all aspects of local customs, guests can interact with the space as infrastructure, feeling at home, but also have access to cultural activities with artists and creatives from different fields. It is hoped that this form of hospitality will boost the cultural dynamics of the city of Nampula

Any day is a good day to visit Ruby!

Open to the general public, with a programme to suit all tastes, those who visit the Ruby benefit from events that, unlike other places where attractions are reserved only for the weekend, take place every day of the week.

But it\'s not just about culture as art. It even takes care of mental health, as a culture of well-being. At the start of the week, on Mondays, a yoga session is organised for those looking to relax and start the week on the right foot. Tuesdays are dedicated to meditation sessions, which also bring introspection and relaxation. From one Wednesday to the next, those who visit Ruby have the opportunity to live a literary experience, where participants are invited to bring their favourite poems, texts or books and are given time to read; these group reading sessions are accompanied by comments on the books and debate on different topics of interest, with mainly young people taking part.

On the weekend, Thursdays are reserved for screenings of mostly African films, to give more prominence to the continent\'s cinema, which is at a competitive disadvantage compared to the American industry, for example. The events on Fridays are more diverse, ranging from cultural soirees with poetry recitations, music, dance and, on some occasions, karaoke sessions for those who want to let loose. There's also space for guitar players, poets and even theatre performances.

For the hopefully near future, Ruby intends to improve the space as a way of creating greater cosiness and welcoming guests and visitors in the best possible way. One of the strategies is to reactivate the pousada on Ilha de Moçambique, to bridge the gap between the coast and the island, thus being able to extend events to both cities.

Ruby is a house of art and culture that you have the privilege of sleeping in. We take great pleasure in welcoming anyone who loves art and then there's no human being who doesn't have an artistic streak, even if it isn't explored or comes to light. We all have an artistic sense and Ruby is a space for art. It's a space where someone comes to rest. A space with the cosiness of a mother's house, as the mentors of the space describe it.
