A "songbook" pays tribute to iconic Mozambican musician Chico António.

The project, which is part of the "Tempo dos Tocadores" collection, by the producer Khuzula in partnership with TP50, aims to celebrate and preserve the memory of one of the greatest names in national arts.

The "Tempo dos Tocadores" collection seeks to record the legacy of the country's great composers, promoting the rich musical diversity that defines Mozambicanity.

Thus, Chico António's "songbook" brings together lyrics, chords and scores of 20 selected songs, all of which were written by him. Highlights include iconic songs such as “Baila Maria”, “Antlissa Maria” and “Wodza”.

Chico António, born in Magude in 1958, passed away in January 2024. His music, with a deep emotional and social charge, reflected his personal experience and the context of the country.

With this publication, we not only pay tribute to his work, but also ensure that his musical legacy remains alive and accessible for future generations.
