The event will take place at 7:00 PM in the Auditorium of Radio Mozambique, in Maputo, with free entry upon donation of school supplies for children affected by the recent floods in the country. The session will be broadcast live on Radio Cidade.
The session represents a milestone in the artist's career, who is part of the country's new musical generation and has been consolidating his presence since 2020 with three EPs and a mixtape. The album now presented, developed with NIOZIK RECORDS, includes ten tracks that blend Afrobeat, Pandza and R&B Soul.
“I was at the first Mbenga Live Session, I saw the birth of this project and I deeply believe in this idea,” said Nephew 258, adding that “being part of this evolution is a source of pride and responsibility.”
Radio Cidade, a broadcast partner since the project's inception, reaffirms its role in amplifying new voices in Mozambican music. "The Mbenga Live Session is a growing project that reflects the vibrant contemporary music scene of Mozambique," declared a representative of the station.
"Besides broadcasting the concert, we want to give shape to artistic and social narratives, taking them, through the radio signal, to every corner."
The artistic direction of Plataforma Mbenga highlights the coherence of the invited artist's career. "Nephew 258 is a creator attentive to his time, methodical in his work and with a very defined sound identity," stated Hélio Nguane.
"The singer and composer embodies the type of artist we want to grow with: authentic, evolving and aware of his context. This session is about that, shared evolution," he added.
The entry requirement is the donation of school supplies, which, according to the organization, is a direct invitation to the public to join "us in a concrete gesture of support for the recovery of children and families affected by the floods. We hope for the public's presence to ensure that the children have this school supply to start classes with positive energy," emphasized Hélio Nguane.
The Mbenga Live Session, which had its first edition with singer Shelcia Mac, aims to promote new voices in Mozambican music through intimate concerts with live radio broadcasts. The project, in partnership with Rádio Cidade, aims to create proximity between artists and the public, expanding the reach of national alternative music.
