Environmental preservation inevitably involves academia, which is challenged to contribute through courses, research, exchanges, and other actions that make education one of the main keys to sustainable development.

The Faculty of Agronomy and Forestry Engineering at Eduardo Mondlane University has already recognized this factor and is currently recruiting students for its PhD program in Forestry Sciences.

The PhD in Forestry Sciences offers three essential specialization branches, the first being "Silviculture and Forest Management," which explores aspects related to the sustainable management of forests and the application of silvicultural practices.

This is followed by the branch "Environment and Wildlife," focused on the conservation, management, and restoration of natural ecosystems and biodiversity. And the third, "Forest Products Technology," which focuses on the science and technology associated with the production and processing of materials derived from forest resources.

The program lasts four years, eight semesters, and three stages, specifically the curricular component in the first two semesters; The research phase for the thesis, participation in conferences, and preparation of the scientific work take place from the third to the seventh semester; and finally, the thesis defense takes place in the eighth semester.

According to the announcement published by Eduardo Mondlane University, professionals holding an academic master's degree or equivalent training, preferably in the areas of forestry, agricultural, biological, environmental sciences, or related fields, may apply for the course.

Candidates with a professional master's degree are also eligible, provided they have a number of credits equivalent to an academic master's degree and demonstrate proven research experience of at least three years in the field.
