Mozambique is facing one of the worst floods in recent years, with more than 723,000 people affected, including 400,000 children.

This is the assessment of the United Nations Children's Fund in the country (UNICEF Mozambique), which explains that homes, schools, and health facilities have been destroyed.
Faced with this situation, Mozambican authorities have created shelters for flood victims. However, these places are overcrowded, thus increasing the risks of problems such as cholera, malnutrition, trauma, and protection issues.
“With a funding shortfall exceeding 99%, essential services for children are at risk of collapsing,” warns UNICEF Mozambique, which finds in voluntary donations a boost to the Fund's emergency response for children.
“Our teams are on the ground restoring access to clean water, preventing outbreaks of deadly diseases, supporting child protection, providing emergency health care, and ensuring that young children receive nutritional support,” it states.
The donations include emergency health kits and mobile services, drinking water, sanitation and hygiene, including the provision of water purification equipment, nutritional screening and essential support for young children and their families in the most affected areas, among others.
