Health and development always go hand in hand and, to protect global health security, it is necessary to train qualified professionals, especially in a world affected by problems such as population growth and climate change.

This is the understanding of Margarida Correia Neves, from the University of Minho (Portugal), keynote speaker at the annual lecture held in Maputo by the National Institute of Health (INS).

At the event, which brought together specialists, students and researchers, Neves highlighted the importance of continuous training to face the challenges of public health. According to her, people need to better understand health issues in order to trust science and help build a strong and effective health system.

In addition, she warned of the dangers of releasing scientific results too quickly, reinforcing the need for critical thinking and careful research. She also acknowledged Mozambique's great advances in the area of health and encouraged young people to continue this progress.
