Exposure to high temperatures, alcohol and cigarette consumption, as well as daily habits such as keeping a laptop on your lap, can compromise sperm production and quality, increasing the risk of infertility in men.

This is the warning from Hilário Manhice, a representative of Neolife, who highlights the influence of environmental factors and lifestyle on male reproductive health.

According to Manhice, male infertility is defined as the inability to impregnate a partner after a year of trying without using contraceptive methods. The problem may be related to difficulties in sperm production, transport or quality. Diseases, infections and hormonal disorders may also be underlying causes.

To reduce the risks, Hilário Manhice recommends adopting a healthy lifestyle. Maintaining a balanced diet, rich in antioxidants found in fruits, vegetables, fish and whole grains, can improve semen quality. Furthermore, regular exercise helps to balance hormones and blood circulation, which are essential factors for fertility.

Avoiding smoking and excessive alcohol consumption is also essential, as these substances reduce sperm count and mobility. Likewise, obesity can compromise testosterone production, affecting reproductive function.

Another crucial aspect for testicular health is temperature regulation. Very hot baths, frequent saunas and the habit of resting a laptop on your lap can raise scrotal temperature, impairing sperm production and quality. Wearing comfortable and appropriate underwear can also help protect male fertility.
