Gala-Gala Edições is launching the book "Blasfêmeas, Sangue e Poesia: Novas Vozes Femininas", an anthology that brings together 18 new voices of Mozambican poetry, on February 20th, at 1:30 pm, at the Guimarães Rosa Institute, in Maputo.
The 104-page publication is a celebration of female poetry and aims to give visibility to authors who, although poetry and music are an integral part of their lives, have not yet had the opportunity to publish their work.
The name "Blasfêmeas" reflects the anthology's proposal: an act of heresy, empowerment and freedom. The idea is to provide space for female poets to recite their stories, struggles, loves and rights. The publication also pays tribute to Noémia de Sousa, the "mother of poets" from Mozambique, and celebrates her influence on Mozambican literature, one year before her centenary.
The launch will feature a performance by scholar Sara Jona Laisse and commentary by poet Sangare Okapi. "Blasfêmeas" is part of the Plural collection, published by Gala-Gala Edições.
