Italy will invest around 1.5 billion meticais (23.5 million dollars) in IN4JOB (AID 12924), a project to train young undergraduate and postgraduate students, encouraging the creation, incubation and acceleration of startups and small businesses.
Of the total amount, 1.3 billion meticais will be made available as credit for young entrepreneurs, expanding opportunities in the private sector. The impact of the program promises to be significant, with 1,100 startups incubated, benefiting 3,300 young people, in addition to strengthening 270 micro and small businesses, resulting in the direct hiring of 2,700 professionals. Gender equality will be an essential pillar of the initiative, ensuring equal access for men and women in the job market.
The implementation will be carried out by strategic institutions such as the National Institute of Employment and Vocational Training (INEFP), the Institute for the Promotion of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (IPEME) and bodies linked to science, technology and innovation, in line with the guidelines approved by the Government in 2024.
The initiative, one of the most important in Italian Cooperation in the youth sector in recent decades, was recently announced during a meeting between the Italian ambassador to Mozambique, Gabriele Annis, and the Minister of Youth and Sports, Caifadine Paulo Manasse.
