Due to the number of speakers and its global influence, Mandarin is one of the world's main languages. It is with this in mind that the Mozambique-China Cultural Centre in Maputo hosted the first edition of the International Chinese Language Day.
The event aims to pay tribute to the richness of the Chinese language and its role as an instrument of dialogue and cooperation between cultures.
The event brought together institutional representatives, students, teachers and members of the Sino-Mozambican cultural community, in an atmosphere marked by exchange, sharing of knowledge and promotion of linguistic diversity.
The programme included recitals in Mandarin, musical performances and moments of reflection led by speakers who highlighted the importance of teaching the Chinese language in Mozambique.
The celebration is part of the joint efforts to strengthen cultural relations between Mozambique and China, and underlines the importance of multilingualism as a universal value and a driver of understanding between peoples.
