Seven artists were honored this Thursday in Maputo with the Mozal Arts and Culture Awards 2025, an initiative that aims to recognize the merit and contribution of young creators to the country's cultural development.
According to the jury, choosing the winners was "extremely difficult" due to the high artistic level and diversity of the works submitted.
The organizers highlighted that the quality of the submitted works demonstrates the growth of the sector and the commitment of young artists to the appreciation of Mozambican culture.
The winners of this edition were Nuno Silas, in the Visual Arts category; Mário Cumbana, in Photography; Raul Zimila, in Theatre; Osvaldo Passirivo, in Dance; Melchior Ferreira, in Cinema; Amarildo Rungo, in Fashion and Clothing Design; and Az Khinera, in the Music category.
Each winner received 120,000 meticais.
The Mozal Arts and Culture Awards are consolidating themselves as one of the main platforms for valuing artistic talent in Mozambique.
The initiative aims to encourage creative production, promote innovation, and strengthen the role of cultural industries in the social and economic development of the country.
