A program is preparing young Mozambicans for the job market, especially in areas related to the oil and gas sector, equipping them with essential technical and practical skills for the industry.
The goal of the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Training Program, a joint initiative by ExxonMobil Mozambique, partners in Area 4, and the Field Ready organization, in close collaboration with the Government, is to train up to 10,000 young people by the end of this year.
The program was recently launched simultaneously in 19 educational institutions spread across several provinces in the country, mobilizing more than 1,400 students.
According to ExxonMobil representative Justin Clouter, the initiative seeks to provide young people with concrete tools so that they can be better prepared to take advantage of future professional opportunities.
He emphasized that, although it does not guarantee jobs, the training will provide a solid foundation of knowledge in safety and sustainability, fundamental aspects in large-scale industrial projects.
The training is offered free of charge and adapted to local circumstances through a digital platform managed by Field Ready. The content has been developed based on international standards, but adjusted to reflect the specific conditions and needs of Mozambique.
Given the difficulties in accessing the internet in some regions, the program also includes face-to-face sessions at technical schools and universities to ensure greater reach and inclusion.
In a context where youth unemployment is a significant challenge, the training represents an opportunity for young people to obtain valued certifications and to be able to better compete in the market, especially in strategic sectors such as energy, construction and logistics.
