Eminência Bila is the big winner of the 21st edition of the 2021 Eloquence Prize, the jury announced this Friday during the Grand Final, which took place at the Portuguese Cultural Center, in the city of Maputo.
The jury, composed of actress Ana Magaia, university professor Paula Cruz and José António Marques, reader of Camões, ICL, in UP-Maputo, evaluated the oratory skills of the 10 finalists, awarding first place to Eminência Víctor Bila, student of the Degree Course in Marine Machinery Engineering at Escola Superior Náutica.
Second place was won by Argentine Luciano Gulela, student of Portuguese Teaching at Save University. Third place was awarded to Shelsia da Fátima Roberto, from Public Administration at Eduardo Mondlane University.
Momed Severian, a Portuguese teaching student at the Pedagogical University of Maputo, was also awarded an Honorable Mention.
The ten finalists, in addition to benefiting from a training course in the art of oral expression taught by actress Ana Magaia, also received a package of books offered by Plural Editores Moçambique. Camões – Centro Cultural Português in Maputo also awarded monetary prizes to the first three classified.
Created in 2002, the Camões Eloquence Prize aims to motivate students to understand the importance of speaking in Portuguese in the job market, in areas as varied as social communication, teaching, advertising, theater and cinema.
The 2024 edition was the result of a partnership between the Portuguese Cultural Center in Maputo, the Faculty of Language Sciences, Communication and Arts at the Pedagogical University of Maputo and the Portuguese Language Center at UP-Maputo and was supported by Plural Editores.
