The event is of a musical nature, but it's not just the music that stands out. The Azgo Festival, at least judging by the 11th edition, which recently took place in Maputo, was marked by artistic diversity.

For example, there was a prize of 50,000 meticals for the best afrofuturistic dress at the event. This is the way the production found to celebrate Africa's cultural diversity.

According to Júlia Novela, director of the Azgo Festival, this is also an opportunity to celebrate the continent, especially on the peak day, May 25th, Africa Day.

Africa was sung and enchanted by national and foreign artists such as Monique Seka from Cameroon; Samthing Soweto and De Mthuda from South Africa; Lisandro Cuxi from Cape Verde; and Bholoja from Eswatini.

The celebration also featured performances by Wazimbo, Tânia and Zaida Chongo, Cheny wa Gune, Tamyres Moiane, Cleiton David, Twenty Fingers, Melony, Dj Dilson, Humberto Luís, Cleiton da Drena, Dj Faya, Dygo Boy, DJ V, and Branko from Portugal, among other artists who took to the stages of the Azgo Festival 2024.

The continent was also celebrated through fashion. "We have 50,000 meticais as a prize for the best African dress," said Júlia Novela.

The director of "Azgo" also highlighted the fact that, for the first time, the event took place outside the city of Maputo. In addition to fashion, she explained, there will be space for camping on-site and a gastronomy fair.
