Mourning has once again haunted Mozambican music, which has just lost one of its greatest icons. Musician and reverend Arão Litsure died in the early hours of Sunday morning in neighbouring South Africa from an illness.
The musician's remains will be transferred to Mozambique in the coming days, where the funeral ceremonies of the former president of the National Electoral Commission (CNE) and national director of Religious Affairs will take place.
Arão Litsure, who leaves behind a widow, three children and seven grandchildren, stood out in the band Alambique, where he shared the stage with big names in Mozambican music, including the late Hortêncio Langa, Mundinho and Adérito Gomate.
He was also part of the first collection of vinyl records after independence, "Amanhecer 1", and the album "Arão Litsure 10 Anos Depois". Arão Litsure was also president of the Christian Council of Mozambique (CCM) and of the Congregational Churches of the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
