Supporting the professional growth of women and promoting gender equality in the corporate environment is the main objective of the "Be Like a Woman" mentorship program, promoted by Ernst & Young (EY) in partnership with New Faces New Voices (Graça Machel Trust).
The program stands out for offering participants crucial tools to face today’s challenges and prepare for leadership positions, at a time when female representation in positions of power remains a growing necessity.
Through a comprehensive set of lectures, training sessions, and mentorship, the 57 women participating in this edition have access to a valuable support network and practical knowledge that will help them build stronger, more resilient careers.
One of the main benefits of the program is its personalized approach, allowing each participant to develop essential skills such as personal leadership, negotiation abilities, and network-building – areas often identified as barriers to women’s advancement in the job market.
A key innovation in this second edition, sponsored by the writer Mia Couto, is the inclusion of women in disadvantaged situations, such as those with disabilities, informal workers, and women living in rural areas.
This expanded reach reflects a deep commitment to inclusion, ensuring that women from different backgrounds have real opportunities for growth and leadership.
This effort is particularly important given that women in rural areas or with special needs often face additional challenges in accessing education and the formal job market.
In addition to practical benefits, such as the development of technical and leadership skills, participants are also exposed to innovative topics such as artificial intelligence, ethics and integrity in the workplace, and wealth and investment management. These emerging areas are fundamental to ensuring that women are prepared for future challenges, both in the corporate context and the expanding digital economy.
