Mariano Silva "exposes dance" at Franco Moçambicano

Mariano Silva must be one of the photographers who most closely follows the Mozambican cultural scene, especially in Maputo. Presenting the exhibition "Danças comigo?" (Will you dance with me?), which runs from 7 November until 9 December at the Franco-Mozambican Cultural Centre, the Portuguese photographer, who has lived and worked in Maputo for 10 years, connects us to the world of the stage as real actors in the drama.

More than just showing the image, Mariano Silva invites the viewer into the action, into the scene and into the experience of the spectacle. The photographs capture the emotion, the dilemma experienced by the protagonists, in other words, they are an art within a work of art.

"Mariano Silva has a special passion for contemporary dance and has documented the main dance figures in Mozambique." Since 2008, he has ventured into capturing moments through photography, and he realised this passion in Mozambique in 2016. A destiny that, given the results he presents in his exhibition, was inevitable and the public can only benefit from.

Mariano Silva was born in Elvas, Portugal, on 5 April 1976, with a degree in Civil Engineering from the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Coimbra - Portugal.

Whatever happens, "Danças Comigo?" is a question/invitation that everyone has to answer positively, take to the performance stage, let their imagination run wild and let themselves be carried away by the lens of dance photographer Mariano Silva.
